This pattern was drafted from an original gown in the collection of the South Carolina State Museums in Columbia. It was made c. 1795 and shows typical details of the transitional style of the late 18th century like the combination of separate shoulder straps, side seams shifted to the back - both are common to earlier styles - and a higher waistline. The dresses closes in the back with drawstrings. It's a simple style, most certainly used as a workdress, but it is very easily adapted to high class fashions of the period as well. Wear it over a shift and transitional stays. Sizes US 8-18 (Bust 80 - 102,5 cm = 32 1/2 - 41") included. FI102 EURO 26.00 |
