Extant dress from striped silk (1770s)

Dress with center front closure and open skirt, worn with petticoat. The socalled Open Robe was a popular style during the third quarter of the 18th century. This pattern is based on an extant garment in an american collection, but probably of british origin. It has been dated to ca. 1771-1785.
