Reed Corset Boning
Until 1810 metal boning wasn't used for corset making. Instead of whalebone staymakers also used reed to stiffen their products. Several pieces of thin reed are inserted into ca. 4-6 cm casings. First, soak the reed in water for some time and let dry well before using it. Bees wax can be used to soften the strands and prevent them from breaking. Details Sold in coils of 500 m (1660 feet).
