1660s Gown

Pattern for an elegant gown fashionable c. 1660. Our pattern is based on extant period garments and paintings by ter Borch, Vermeer and others.

Bodice and skirt are separates, and can be made from matching or contrasting colours, making this patterns very versatile. Combine the bodice with different skirts for new looks and trim as desired. The bodice lining is boned, so no extra stays are required. Wear with chemise, hip pad and as many underskirts as you wish. The package contains patterns for bodice and hip roll, detailed and easy to follow instructions for the skirts. Details

1670s-1720s Stays

Late 17th century stays (corsets) based on two extant English examples. View A, based on the stays in the Museum of London are fully-boned, five piece stays featuring an optional front busk, integral shoulder straps, back laced closure, and integral tabs at the waist. View B, based on the stays in the Victoria and Albert Museum, features a front opening, stomacher, integral waist tabs and optional sleeves. Embellishment suggestions included.

1630s Bodice and Petticote

English-, French- and Dutchwomen's bodices and petticotes (jackets and skirts) with optional stomacher appropriate for the 1630s and Women’s Common or Middle Class bodice and petticote appropriate for the 1630s through 1660s. Included are low, open front bodice to be worn with stomacher or closed, high front, boned or stiffened lining, wide or narrow sleeves with optional paning, continguous gored or attached tabbed skirting. Petticote options include hooked or tied waistband with slits for pocket access. Upper class and lower class instructions, historical notes and embellishment suggestions included.
